Full Version: cylinder lining or coating?

Hey Guys!

I haven't come across any mention in Honda's tech info on the CB1100 motor, and I just did a purty good search on this forum with no results.

Does anyone know if Honda did anything special with the CB1100 motor as far as piston coating or cylinder lining to reduce friction?? My '99 VFR had all kinds of factory ju-ju like ceramic/silicone cylinder lining and low friction piston coating.

In getting this motor to pass Euro emissions, I would expect Honda to use every trick in the book. Reducing friction inside would allow for a cooler running motor and more 'wiggle room' in meeting spec.

Anybody?
In the parts fiche .25 pistons are listed, along with the stock ones. Doesn’t that mean the cylinders can be bored, thus having no coating?

Thanks, LongRanger! Haven't read them yet, but I bookmarked the sites. That will keep me busy for a while!
