When I roll my bike off the center stand, the stand flips up, but not all the way to the stop. A gentle foot tap and it pops up to the stop. The spring on the left side of the bike is connected and in tact. I don't see a spring on the right side, but I don't think there's supposed to be one there (I didn't check the service manual or photos, though).

I'm not overly worried about this as I will have to have my bike into the dealer for an oil change sometime this month, but I am curious if other people have encountered this and/or if anyone has an idea of what is causing this.

It sounds as if the pivot points may be dry and need a shot of oil.
My Bonneville did that and I gave it a couple of shots of motor oil from an oil squirt gun and worked it in.

I use my CB centerstand, err, used my CB centerstand very regularly. Like the machine itself, it was always silk smooth to use. I have not, err, never encountered a problem - always got that "rubber stopper thud" on retraction. My stand pivots were oiled.

Thanks, Rocky. That could be it. My December "bonus" miles has probably put the lower bits of my bike in contact with more road grime than is normal. I'll try a little oil to see if that frees things up. Plus, I can have my mechanic look at it when it's in for the oil change.

See GO....yet another reason to keep you CB -- silk smooth centerstand.

Agree with the dry bushings. A bit of lube down there and she'll be as good as new.
