In high school, '80-82, I drove a 1963 Plymouth Belvedere with push-button transmission... if you've never seen PRNDL button format on the dash (0:40 second mark, buttons on the left-- but this is right side steering version):





Kind of cool...my friends were all jealous...I think it was jealousy...could have been pitty.

Other manufacturers joined in. Some had reverse button next to drive. However, back then, there was not a Park button - still had to set the parking brake by pedal or lever.

Yes, that's right, there was a park lever that one moved up/down to place into park. Funny, all that's coming back to me nearly 40 years later.

When I was a wee tot, I was playing around inside my dad's 1964 Dodge station wagon. I pushed all the buttons. Suddenly the car was rolling backward out of the driveway and out into the street! Thankfully it was a residential street. I remember my dad running after the car and managing to get inside and step on the brakes right before it plowed over the neighbors' mailboxes.

Hi everyone! I totally agree that patching is not a smart option. Stay away from patching if you don't want to get hurt or even get killed. Replace the punctured tube with a new tube for safety and confidence. Glad you shared to us your experience that could prevent serious accidents. Thanks!

I wonder what riders with tube tires bring with them besides their cell phone to call road side assistance when they catch a puncture? What if you're in the middle of no where? In my experience, I was 3 miles away from home when I[/php] caught the flat and called my wife for rescue and to bring the air pump and tire guage.
Luckily, I was able to put some air (32 psi MAX) at the rear and was able to ride it home so carefully. I just hope that I don't get to do that again.

All I’ve got is a phone, but then again, middle of nowhere to me would be stuck between off ramps on the 405.

I have ramps, and stay friends with the neighbors who own pickup trucks…
