I hope the pic uploads.

Anyone think the car driver's insurance company will pay to fix this or total it? I can't find a 2013 standard on sale anywhere if they total it. Hope they settle on enough to buy a 2014. The rarity of our bikes does not make me feel good about this. I walked away banged up and sore and very thankful this was a short car I could fly over.

A honda accord coming the other way did not see me and left turned in front of me. I hit it at about 40 mph and flipped over the car.

Now, I can see it.
If it were my bike, I would consider two options after calculation$, whether totaled or not
* collect money from the insurance and buy a 2014 CB or newer
* buy it back from the insurance, sell it for parts and buy a 2014 or newer

Glad you're at least OK enough to post about it.

First thing that comes to mind is the steering neck. If any part of the neck where the triples mount is bent, I wouldn't bother. Frame damage is not something worth fixing, and I'm pretty sure your bike will be totaled out. Forks took a significant hit and might have bent/damaged more than what you can initially see.

Based on those pics, I would NOT bother fixing it up. Parts are hard to come by (relatively speaking compared to other Japanese bikes) and it could be months before it's all done.

The 2013 bike is not that uncommon... I'm sure you could find one that fits your desires, though might be across the country.

I'd sell you my 2014 Deluxe for $8500.

All I can share is my own experience with similar damage. Last year I was riding a bike of similar size, year, and value (2014 Suzuki Vstrom 1000, 11k miles), when a fertilizer truck threw it into reverse and backed into me while i was parked. The damage was quite similar at first glance...damage to the front forks (bent) damage to the side of the bike from falling over, damage to the wheel, damage to the headlight, I bet your gas tank is also dented.

Long story short, they totaled that bike immediately. repairs were just over 7k with labor and all. The bike was only valued at 6500 at the time. Yours a 2013 CB and the value is almost certainly not more than about 6k on the books....odds are after the shop gets done looking at it your insurance will be cutting you a check. The good news is that bike values are massively overinflated right now so the check will probably be a lot bigger than it otherwise would have been. Finding a replacement CB should not be godawful difficult.

What a shame, another one of those "couldn't see you" accidents. Couldn't see me ?
Here is my advice to the other drivers:
- open your eyes
- look at traffic, not your phone
- get glasses if needed
If none of this helps, return your driving license, it is "a privilege, not a right for stockblind dummies !

That was a pretty solid hit. Glad and amazed you weren't badly injured. The bike is clearly totalled, with the frame bent back. I would not buy it back, since the desirable parts are already damaged. And your helmet and any protective gear should be included on the estimate.

And do not settle for Blue Book value. You likely will have to find and print out ads for comparable bikes. Don't settle for the price of a 2014 standard.

A quick look on Searchtempest, which looks at all editions of Craigslist shows only 4 stock 2013s, about twice as many DLX models, and about a dozen 2014 standards.
