Looking for insight on the aluminum clear coated parts on the new CB. As to durability, remembering how corrosion would penetrate under the clear coat in the 1970's bikes, even when well maintained. Are there any improvements in the clear coat or in waxes and sealants anyone is aware of ? Will this be as big a problem as in the past ?
Bob, I don't think too many have been out there long enough to even see if this is going to be an issue.
I had a Harley that had that problem...eventually I used a chemical stripper to remove all the clear coat and used metal polish to keep the aluminum shiny. I hope the Honda clear coat is more durable.

Here in the UK corrosion due to damp weather and the amount of salt put on our roads during the winter months is a fight we all try to win. The only thing i have found that works is regular coating of ACF 50, look it up. It was developed for use on aircraft.

Does not matter what kind of clear coat is used. Once it is scratched, the corrosion starts. Also can start at the edges and if the part is removed for service, around the bolt holes.
