It has been pointed out to me on numerous occasions that me and my riding group enjoy a good meal when we're on the road. I do not think this is unique to my friends as I have read posts from others about the great places where they dined while on a bike trip. It is true, then, that many of us like a good meal on the road and especially like stoping where the locals eat.
It occurred to me that we may want to set up a "Ride To Eat" section under the "Seat Time" discussion category. We could even created threads on a state by state basis or, in the case of countries other than the US, regional basis. People could easily scroll through the topics looking for the state/country/region where they may be traveling to see if there is a place along the way that another member recommends. Yes, there's Yelp and Trip Advisor and I like them both, but input about, say, parking a motorcycle is not typically listed on those sites.
Think this would be a worthwhile thing to set up?
Good idea I think. What about it Guth?
Sorry, would not think of a typical motorcycle rider as being a foodie, from what I see and read, they "mostly" eat at spots right along the road, easy in, easy out.
I'll stick with TripAdvisor
http://www.tripadvisor.com/
Sure, does not hurt to mention food stops in your reports, many a trip are broken up into food/drink stops
But I would not come to the CB forum looking for food suggestions.
Of course that's just me, others may.
One Harley's most popular accessory series (points and clutch covers, master cylinder tops, clothes etc.) features the expression:
"Live to Ride. Ride to Eat."

I wouldn't mind having a list of good places to eat besides the typical chain diners. Here is a list of places of interst, at least to some.

I'm not sure about a subsection just for places to eat. Maybe recommended places to eat, stay, obtain parts, etc. while you're out on the road? Of course, in many cases information will become outdated and that could be problematic, but I'll keep an eye on how much demand this thread generates.
I think other road stops, like lodging and maybe other points of interest could be useful. My thought was that that it could be a resource when someone is planning a trip. I read about places to eat, see, and stay in the ride reports, but if I were to, say, plan a trip to Colorado and I wanted to know places to stop along my route, I would have to find ride reports for Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado. If there was a spot where I could easily scroll through, it would make the planing easier. I'd even be willing to lift such information from others' ride reports and post it in this new section if folks didn't feel like making the post themselves.
Anyhow, it was just a thought. Maybe not a good one. I'm for whatever the moderators think is best...they've been doing great so far.
I have lots of favorite eat spots on rides. My friends love them too. Good places on good roads within a hundred mile radius of central Fl. plus good spots enroute to the Blue Ridge and back.
IMO, adds to the riding enjoyment

EmptySea, you could maintain a list by state on the basis of what you read. Keep it in a Google doc or such like and post a link to it. Sort of like the registry.
I can look into doing something like that, too. Maybe a cold weather project for me
