'This place' struggles mightily with the English translation from whatever language it started in!
I could have bought either a '13 or a '14. I chose the '13 because I really like the overall look better, the wheels, the 1/2 black engine. The smaller side covers. The only concern I had was would I be riding and looking for a 6th gear like I do with my Honda NT? Well, the NT is a two cylinder, so the revs are higher. I do not look for a 6th at all on my CB. The revs are fine where I cruise at, and I have no vibrations at all. Even if I had bought a '13 without seeing a '14 and I later lusted after a '14, no way would I part with an extra $5500 just to get one. I work too hard for my money. Just me. YMMV.

I didn't need the extra polished stuff or a gear indicator.

Gear indicator? .... Oh-oh, here it comes....Really, you guys wanted a gear indicator? Real motorcyclists don't need such a thing, it serves no legitimate purpose at all. Listen to your motor. Look at your speed. Figure it out for yourself. Next thing I'll probably hear you say is you wish it had those little dash marks on the speedo that tells you when to shift! Puhleeeze!

Lol....Did you read what you wrote before hitting enter?

Uh, if your NT had a gear indicator, you wouldn't be trying to put it in 6 th gear all the time Mr "Listen to your motor, look at your speed, figure it out for yourself". Hello

Seriously, I had a gear indicator on my 75 Suzuki GT 750, my 81 GS850G Suzuki, my 83 GS 1100E Suzuki, later on, on the 2010 BMW R 1200R I rented in Europe, and I loved them. Was one of the features that really appealed to me on the 14 dlx. Every motorcycle should have one IMO. Would much rather have that than heated grips, and yes I have ridden bikes with heated grips.

The instruments on the 14 are the same as the 13. They just added a little more (gear indicator, etc.) to the digital cluster in between them. Not much of a change really.

Gauges on my dlx are completely different than they were on my 13

Yea you missed quite a bit Papa bit maybe not enough to sway you, and besides that's not what I am trying to do. You can put them in the pros or cons coulumns as you see fit.

6 speed transmission, lower cruising rpms and better gas mileage
Polished master cyl covers for brake and clutch
Polished passenger grab rails
Polished top triple tree
Chrome bars ends instead of black
Repositioned headlight
Smaller turn signals
Fuel computer
Gear indicator although the last two may be included in the the digital gauges you mentioned
Extra weight includes the ability to go from 20 to 40 miles further on a tank of gas
Chrome head pipes that will never bronze or brown spot

Thanks, Ferret - I did forget the 6th gear (edited that in), and I didn't realize the head pipes are actually chrome (I wonder if they're interchangeable?) - but the rest wasn't on my "pro" list. They're all cool changes, but not something that would necessarily make me want to flip the '13. Big Grin
And just to clarify - I LOVE the look of my bike. As I've said before, it is no doubt the most beautiful bike I've owned - I just like the looks of the '14 even better!
I prefer the look of the '13 as well; it's a combination of small things that make it appear slightly sportier (to me), which is in keeping with my taste. For whatever reason, I find the extra half gallon on the tank to of the '14 to be very noticeable, looking somewhat bulbous compared to the squared sporty '13, which I always felt looked rather CBX-like. The '14's headlight is positioned slightly higher and bars/mirrors slightly taller, thus pulling attention away from the "foundation line" (as described in this article: http://www.bikeexif.com/build-cafe-racer), which is the implied visual line running through the center of the bike when viewed from the side. Vehicles with a "sporty" foundation line will have a slightly forward leaning angle, providing the illusion of speed at standstill; Harley foundation lines point skyward, thus projecting their relaxed/slothful nature. Wink

I also like the overall balance of red/black/metal on the '13. Silver engine on the '14 sure is pretty though! Smile

Here in Oz the choice is between a '10 model and, well, a '10 model. Some were manufactured in '11 but are still '10 models. Console myself with pithy sayings like 'The original.......and the best'. Am really looking forward to checking out the '13s and '14s at Robinsville in May.

Interesting to read the viewpoints above though.

Cheers

LOL-Yeah, the bike I had prior to the NT was a 6 speed twin so I got used to the 6th lowering the revs. Also, The gearing on the NT is lower and it feels like it needs a 6th. I don't feel that way with the CB. It's also not as refined as the CB so I hear the roughness more. I guess it's because it's a twin pushing a heavy bike around.

Exactly the same here. Both models available at the dealer. To me, the 13 is just looks slightly better. I may be odd man out, but I love the silver side covers with the red tank. Maybe because that was the way the original prototype looked, several years back. I still have the downloaded image on my computer today. In fact, I edited it to add the one thing I thought was missing from the design. Can y'all spot my Photoshop (actually Xara) add on?
