Dang DAC,

Too bad you didn't get some pics... Tongue
I jumped at the chance to ride a '13 when it first came out and was very impressed. But I couldn't get over the one pipe going down the side; it just didn't look "balanced". I went back to considering the Triumph T100 but had to wait until I could afford a new bike. When I came into some money, I remembered the CB1100 and looked it up. When I saw the Deluxe I knew this was the perfect bike for me. I would like to see the model continue, possibly with some different colors; I love that Aqua Blue.
I think the naked standard style truly struggles in the US of A, despite the clamoring on the forums for this style.

TU250x, discontinued at least one year from importation by Suzuki
SR400, total commercial disaster for Yamaha
CB1100, already stopped from being imported after just two years

Triumph may be the exception, but every winter around here very good deals can be had on old inventory.

I LOVE this style, and have bought all of the above, traded in the TU250 for just being too darn weak for me.

I'm grabbing all I can when I can, before they are gone forever
I've seen a total of four CB1100s out and about here in the Portland area. Strangely, I see far more Hawk GTs around these parts — surprising for a bike that sold poorly and was discontinued almost 25 years ago.

Sometimes when I think about the CB1100, I'm reminded of Kawasaki's W650. Here for two years and then gone. They didn't sell well. But now if you do find an example up for sale on the used market, it probably won't be around for long before finding a new owner while selling for a good sum of money. It would have been nice if Honda had sent over more of the Deluxe models in 2015, but I'm doubtful that they would have sold too many more than they did. While I'm certainly hoping that the CB1100 makes a return to this market in 2016, I don't have high hopes. I'm simply grateful that they brought the CB1100 over here even for a short period of time

There are a few guys here looking for 14 Deluxes, but let's face it — we're only talking about a very few people. (Dealers probably wonder where these guys were back in 2014, lol.) Even though they can still be had new today, by pure numbers the 2013 model wins the popularity contest. Having access to the actual numbers of how many units of each model was released would tell us the rest of the story. More than likely, the number of bikes left at the dealers is in alignment with the number of bikes that were released to the dealers to begin with.

Also keep in mind that the forum represents only a subset of CB1100 owners. As hard as it is to believe, there are actually guys out there who bought a CB1100 but haven't joined the forum. Simply shocking. ROFL

As you say, oh great and fearless leader, 'simply shocking!' And what is being done about it? Tongue

Redbird, where do you get 53 from? With your bike added, the Registry says only 52. Am I missing something?
Cormanus I said 52 ( see post #7 this thread..page 1) but I could have miscounted as I was scrolling up and I pad counting. Redbird added one to my count to make 53.

I find it interesting that the numbers 1-300 are fairly well represented for the dlx's. I think circumstance would have given us at least 1 high number if there were many more than 300 made ie: why not a 471 or a 515? Surely if there were any high numbers out there one of their owners would have found us.
I agree about the number of DLXs. 300 seems a reasonable guess to me in the circumstances.

BTW, if you look to the right of the word "Registry" at the top of the page on [url=https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1koy5vS6oeC-mseDUxK0RB2mx5X59LpHuUfUOxLmHHhg/pub?gid=0]the spreadsheet, you'll see the word "Stats". Click on it and see a summary of the numbers of different models by country and, in the case of the US, by state.
Wow never noticed the stats before.. I'm even more impressed with your record keeping than I was. Amazing job Cormanus.
One thing that we do know is that this forum has had a direct impact on increasing sales of the CB1100 — simply because a number of members have told us so. Honda could have put together an advertising campaign using real life CB1100 owners allowing the bike and the ownership experience to sell itself on a larger scale.

I too have to tip my cap once again to Cormanus for compiling the registry stats. Good stuff.
