Actually, chemical sterilization IS one option that has shown success.
What would happen if the deer hunters unintentionally shot all the non-sterile deer. Unlikely I know, but my brain tends to work like this, it's a curse I tell ya!

A healthy herd can reproduce itself by 80% each year. You'd have to sterilize every female. Doe's control the population. Not being monogamous, a buck deer will breed every female deer in heat he can find until he starves to death
Why are we focusing just on the deer? I see plenty of folks that are poster children for involuntary sterilization. Start with the ones that are caught texting while driving.
