I don't get it. This afternoon there were 2 members but 175 quests on line. Come on, just join up. It's not like you have to pay. The more members, the better for everyone, unless I'm missing something.
I don't know if we could keep a leash on that many people lol
It's like that on every forum. There are billions of people on the planet on the computer at any one time. We have members from 21 countries. Some people just like to see what others are talking about. I check out lots of other forums. If someone mentions a particular bike I'm not real familiar with I do 2 things with google, I google "issues with X bike" then I go read, and I google "X bikes owner forum" then I go read some more. But then I am a motorcycle nut and like to learn about all bikes. You should see my motorcycle book collection and motorcycle reference library. If it has 2 wheels, it's most likely in my books and I can find out about it in short order.
Even stranger, I reckon, are the people who actually join the forum but never post.
I don't have 175 guests wanting to read my ride reports, but I do send out the links to my reports (when I don't think their horrible) to friends and family. So, like 6 of the 175 could be those folks.
I was a guest when I was trying to get info on the CB and to see what people thought of the bike. I joined once I bought the bike to see what everyone was doing to the bike.
A large number of the 'guests' on sites and forums are not people but 'bots and spiders' that patrol the web for search engines and other programs. Sounds creepy, but part of the whole web thing. Not uncommon for larger forums to report thousands of 'guests.'
I probably show up as a guest when I check in to see what's happening from a non registered computer. can't explain the other 174. once last summer when I was a pre-ownership troller I think I saw about 600, about the time we had 3000 members.
I hate bots and spiders.
and whatever
But here's a question: If cockroaches can survive nuclear war.... what's in a can of RAID ???
