Thank you all. I think I will try the Sea Foam treatment first. AND I think I will ask my Honda dealer if he is aware of anything in a tech bulletin regarding driveability issues.
I installed the eliminator yesterday and tested it out twice and it clearly works to eliminate the surging I was experiencing at 2000 to 3000 rpms.

I've had the O2 sensor since early summer. I don't see any difference than before and I noticed several times today at a stop with clutch held the engine went from 1000rpm to 800rmp and back.

This has been exactly my experience as well (as documented in another thread elsewhere in this forum).
Buy the $1.00 resistor and plug it into the connector. Tape it shut and don't look back. Did the exact same thing with this '16 CB1000R and it works like a champ. Smooths things out and doesn't act all goofy.
