Really basic and maybe silly question here but I hope someone can give me some idea about how this all works before I stop into my local dealer.

I live a bit out in the boondocks Texas. There is one Honda dealer in town and I think 2-3 others within about 50 miles. I will be ready to buy a 2017 CB1100 in October. For the few months I have been looking at all these dealers inventory online, none of them has ever shown a CB1100 in stock.

So, what exactly is the process? When I go to my local dealer and express my interest in the bike, do they seek one out from another dealer somewhere and I put down a deposit to show I am serious? Is there a way to literally "order one from the factory" and have it sent over?

Since this is not a popular bike around here and they don't carry them, should I pretty much expect to not be able to deal much on price?

I am a bit curious because using the online forms you send into dealers to request a quote on the bike has been ignored by all three dealers. I know I could just go there in person but I thought I could get a general idea of how to go about getting the bike through email. But it is as if the dealers don't want to make a sale?

Thanks for any input into exactly how I can go about getting my dream bike!
Your new bike is in a warehouse somewhere in good 'ol USA. The dealer would probably require a down payment to order one in for you. Order time? Maybe a week or two at the most.

I tried to get my local dealer to order one in so I could look at it before I threw down hard earned money. No luck. He felt he had been burned on the '13 - 14's and sold them out at a loss. Hence, I found a rural dealer who had a '14 still in inventory and now am truly enjoying it. But, I do sympathize with the local dealer. He would have ordered one for me with a down payment, if I wasn't so cheap.

You can call the Motorcycle Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. at (866) 784-1870 M-F 8:30 am to 4:30 pm PST. They can look up what dealers in the state your in and a couple around you and they can tell you what dealers have a 2017 CB1100 EX in stock. That's how I found my DLX.

My local dealer offered to order one with a refundable deposit. Just check with them on what they require as it can be different dealer to dealer.
in principle, its some poor from the dealers if you get no reply for your enquirys ! a reply would be a reply.....What about customer-friendliness ?
I got my 2014 for a song compared to list price. I don't know why, I rode my CB1100 to an event where they were trying to get everyone to test ride a Ducati scrambler and I decided to check it out. Bike kept getting false neutrals between higher gears, gauges were cuss by comparison and the overall 'feel' was cheap. I came back feeling pretty awesome about my Honda. I think it should have a little more 'pull' for an 1100, but I enjoy the hell out of riding my CB1100
