The CB1100 Community Forum

Sunny and not a cloud in the sky today. 29 degrees in AM when I left the house but ended up being 46 by mid afternoon. Roads were nice and dry. Rode the CB over to my buddies coffee shop at 9:45 AM and met another friend who rode his BMW 800 ADV bike. Hung out for a while, downed some sludge and then headed over solo to the Honda Orphanage were I adopted the CB almost 3 years ago. Pic was taken out front.



Spoke to one of the younger salesmen about the Kawi 900RS they had sitting on the floor (the only one). $10,999 in black with a gold stripe. Nice, compact package with a really clean instrument cluster.

Kicked some tires on a couple of Afrika Twins (2017 for $11,999 with no luggage or DCT) and then rolled on over to my friends who met me earlier at the coffee shop. He had a Shiner waiting for me. Hung out in his garage talking bikes. He has a 100th anniversary Road King, an XR1200 and that BMW. He's looking to add a new Triumph Scrambler to the collection.

Left there and went back home only to get a text from him saying he wanted to see the Kawi in flesh. Told him to come pick me up and we'd go together. 20 minutes later he pulls up on his XR1200 with his Evel Knievel helmet and a mutual bud on a cafe'd Triumph Bonneville.

I jump on the Guzzi and off we go to the Honda Dealer again. We got a few looks on those bikes. This time I ran into the salesman that sold me the CB and we talked for a while. He said they will never order the CB's again as they just sat on the floor. He then said he did just special order a 17 for a customer that was shipped from Hondas central warehouse today and it should be in the shop Friday. He then asked if I wanted him to call me so I could look at it. Heck Yes!

We talked a little more. Bike sales have been slow even in the summer but they're moving atvs/UTV's and that's the bulk of their profit margin these days. The salesfloor was abour 2/3rds dedicated to four wheelers. Asked about the Afrika Twins and he said they sold well the first year but it looks like everyone that wanted them now has them and sales have dropped off.

At that point we left the Honda dealer and headed for the local Harley shop. Triumph guy was looking for the name of a good custom painter because he wanted to get something done on the Triumph. We looked around and then said our good by's and headed our separate ways. Made it home, put the bikes up and BBq'd a filet mignon and cracked another Shiner. Good day all around.

It was a great day near Seattle as well. Woke up to this sunrise and 45 degrees at the house. It hit 60 during the day. Great ride into work with very little traffic thanks to the holiday as well.

Beautiful pics indeed. Just slogging through a long cold winter with snow here in Ohio. Hope to get to a dealer this springtime and demo a new EX.

Utah is one of many beautiful states here in our Union.

Here again, I never met a state I didn't like. All the hundreds of thousands of miles I've spend riding alone through our great country here, I've enjoyed every mile no matter where I was, or what kind of bike I was on.

That goes for Canada, too.
