a few weeks ago i meant, i had something read that somebody had somehow a problem with the gear shift....hmmm...the hondadealer fixed the problem on guarantee...and honda knows about this problem , that could occur.

who was this or what he had exactly, i have it forgotten and i find nomore this post...

bcos my 17 model feels not that smooth when switching, like somehow scratch/ hasty switching is sometimes not that fine, and the gear display shows me sometimes . no gear after hasty switching ......from the past i know the honda gearboxes basical in other way

well maybe i must just drive some more and not only round 1000km like until now and the mechanic will go smoothly, rounder
The transmission in my 2013 was less than I expected but smoothed out after a couple of oil changes and now very smooth. As has been mentioned before on the forum, proper chain adjustment is important for smooth shifts.
So are deliberate shifts. Get lazy toe and you'll find yourself between gears, and a - (dash) showing up in your gear indicator signifying an improper shift. Sometimes something as simple as switching shoes makes a difference.
One of the many things that impressed me right away about this bike was the butter smooth shifts. Probably one of the slickest I've ever ridden.
I have over 10,000 kilometers on my 2017 CB1100 EX. Any shifting problems I had were user errors: lazy shifts, hurried shifts, etc.

The comment about boots is also relevant. When I returned to motorcycling 4 years ago I wore steel toe construction boots and often missed shifts. I bought a pair of Alpinestars Roam boots and the problem disappeared. They were also taller, so my shins remained warmer in cold weather.

It think that transmission performance has been across the board with the CB. I had the same bike as Rocky, but it was only smooth for shifts from 2-6 and 6-2. The 1-2 and 2-1 shift was loud and clunky on my bike. Occasionally I could time the shift "just right" and it would be quiet and smooth, but for the most part, it was embarrassingly loud.

My 1-2 and 2-1 shift often felt gritty and "farm-tractor-like". I kept all linkages well lubed/adjusted and I regularly changed the semi-synth oil. It shifted relatively quietly when cold, but nothing seemed to help once the bike was warmed up.
So far, the shifting on my '17 EX couldn't be any better.

His bike kept popping out of gear and was fixed by the dealer.
I've got about 1500 miles on my CB11RS and I've never had to even think about shifting, its just does it seamlessly. Just had it out today for a trip into town to pick up some spark plugs for my old GSXR750 and I cant even recall how it shifted (either its early onset Alzheimer's or it never needed any conscious thought) . I was on high butt pucker alert as the roads were covered in winter slime so it wasn't as if I snoozed on my ride there and back.
