Some people know from my for sale post. But I got my hands on a new 2026 CB1000f

I have been drooling and waiting for one of these bikes, and today I got to bring it home.
Found it it 2 hours away, and ended up trailering it home because I figured 2 hours of i5 and on/off rain wasn't great for a break in ride.
Got it back home and took it for about a 20-22 mile ride. As soon as I got it back to the garage, the fan started kicking up full speed and I have this lovely engine oil warning light. So now I'll be waiting to hear from the warranty department. I checked engine oil and coolant which looks fine. So I am thinking either a bubble in the system, or a faulty sensor at best.

First impressions of the bike. It feels very light and agile. tip in is nice and smooth and it feels confident as can be. Comfort level is through the roof. This factory seat is hands down the best seat I've ever felt. Ergos, feel just right. I was thinking maybe lower bars eventually, but I'll probably leave it just as it is. Suspension feels much sportier then the CB1100, but still smooth and compliant, I haven't yet tried adjusting it any but I will. Power delivery is fantastic, it really likes to go and wants to go. Sport drive mode and low speed throttle inputs feel kind of choppy which I've read is a normal experience with newer throttle by wire bikes, and can be tuned out, but its much less noticeable when riding it at higher speeds, and using standard vs sport. I haven't had much chance to mess with the assists and tech stuff yet. the paint and color look so much better in person then pictures give it justice. The sound of this machine is by far the most surprising part besides comfort. Honda apparently put different length air tunnels to the cylinder for "added character". It works, you get this fantastic old school intake noise when you get on it, part of me keeps debating on a slip on or not for it because of that. But, I probably will once/if arrow makes one similar to the one for our 1100s. Just as long as it doesn't overpower that intake noise too badly. Hopefully soon, I'll get this error fixed by the warranty people and can get you guys a walk around and video of it out in action.

But the bike looks great! The youtube reviews I've watched on it do highlight the engine vibe with glowing positives.

I'm hoping it can get resolved quickly and tbh fully. It did smell warm when I shut it down, checked the coolant temp on the screen and it showed 240°f which I think is what tripped the light. I'd like to think a faulty temp sensor, but it smelling hot makes me think that not to be the case. So either the coolant system wasent burped/bleed off right, or there's a blockage/obstruction somewhere in the cooling system, or super worst case. A obstruction/blockage in the oiling system.

Either way the warranty department is going to figure it out further from here, and I'm going to make sure it all gets documented fully. Really hoping there isnt any internal damage from the heat. Also, pretty glad I wasent riding it home from the dealership.

I did get the extra 5 years of Honda warranty so it'll be covered to paid off. But these kinds of things always suck to deal with.

The muffler reminds me of the CB1100s.

Love everything about it but that TV screen you have to stare at.
I also bet it's the single most $$$$ part on the bike.
Hate for it to die out of warranty. When it dies, it probably bricks the whole bike.
Ill be getting a 14 CB1100 next year.

Wow, love seeing these hitting the market! Looking forward to your in-depth review. I doubt I'll see one in a local dealer, and I won't be buying one anytime soon, but I love that they're out there.

The stock muffler is very similar to our OEM ones. Somehow its even bigger and probably heavier. Webike shows a K-Factory CSS slip on which resembles the Yoshimura full pipes offered for the cb1100 that I'll end up getting IF arrow doesn't end up making a similar chrome option like they did for the cb1100.

The screen instead of round clocks is definitely a polarizing thing. At first I was on the fence about it, but after seeing all the tech they have in this thing I can understand they just couldn't get it to work with a more classic setup. I also ended up not thinking about it as a "retro remake" like our beloved cb1100 are, but more of a "retro inspired modern bike". Essentially, its a cb1000 hornet that I can stand to look at. But even then, the 1000f gets full cornering ABS and leaning traction control and keyless ignition (give or take). The phone integration is pretty neat and I like being able to see my navigation on the screen and change audio/call settings from the handle bars. But not even optional cruise control is a bit of a miss for a brand new bike, I personally don't mind not having that. Maybe the aftermarket will catch up and put out a gauge swap, but fully integrating it would be difficult.

This machine does have a bunch of computer boxes stuffed on it so if a person is wanting a true retro, unfortunately this isn't it. I would say this is between a xsr900 and a z900rs and the true retro is still the cb1100 or w800/t120/royal Enfield classic etc.

My local dealerships are definitely trying to push the whole "There is only going to be a few of these around" but I'm pretty skeptical about that and they are probably meaning the 2026 years of them. I personally feel this is Honda testing the waters, if they sell well, we should see this around for a few years. They are essentially the same as the hornet just different body work, and a different tail section. So they should be pretty sustainable.

Even with the warning light and potential problems, I am still happy with the purchase and more anxious some more miles on it before all of the clear riding weather is gone.
