David, your story will be one of renewal and reflection when all of this is behind you. Hope the insurance company makes good on everything, and reimburses everything, especially the gear at a fair price.
I was thinking about your current predicament last night. A few months ago, one of our favorite local restaurants suffered a fire just a few days after we took some out-of-town friends there for lunch. Not too long after that visit, we went for dinner, and tugging on the door, noticed it was locked. Then, noticed the windows were blackend on the inside, and there was a scribbled note on the door... "Sorry, closed due to fire". Not long afterwards, a scary-looking red tag was taped to the door by the city. Not sure what that meant...
We didn't know what the fate would be and were thinking about the fate of all of the people who work there that we've gotten to know over the years. But last night on a stroll through town, our eyes caught lights glowing over their outdoor patio area. We hurried over to see that they were back in business, strong as ever.
