Bummer. I've looked for threads on converting to 17" wheels here and on the old forum, but I can't find anything that's really useful. What I did find suggested it was a difficult project.

Personally, on this bike, i dont see the benefit.

In this case the Cush drive would have to be cnc d and im not putting that kind of money in it maybe i can score some res wheels
m in sci put some ex500 mags on a 72 h2/H1 hybrid years ago for a friend, and had to mill the carrier hub into the wheel to make the offset work, like said, it can be done, did it on a j head.  I just don't see the real benefit of doing this (or what tim did for that matter).  you could cut one down, make the 'fingers' for the cush, and tig em in as well. just a thought.  but i love doing stuff of this nature so...



the benefit would be tire choices also looks also you would have to add to the wheel not mill it shallower or have a new drive hub machined
(10-28-2025, 05:51 AM)m in sc Wrote: [ -> ]how far off is it? you can use a carrier adapter and move the sprocket out pretty easily. rebel gears in Tennessee (highly recommend)  made one for the RD to bring the rear sprocket out about 10mm when i built custom wheels for is using a european rear disc hub, then putting on wide spoked wheels.  they can do further though.  i was able to get an offset front sprocket and they did the rear carrier adapter. been on for 17? years or so zero issues.
More than a inch witch would put the sprocket far left of the Cush drive bearing and cause issues i have a place to make a space no problem it’s the geometry of where the sprocket ends up in correlation with the drive bearing would laterally stress the bearing too much leading to premature failure
