I have far much less wind noise on the CB1100, but I think it's because the screen on the Versys was pushing the air into my face (6'3"). I'm hesitant to get a windscreen on the Honda because I don't want that problem again. The CB1100 is great on the highway, and I can hear my music in my helmet without having to max the volume, which, on the Versys I had no change of hearing it at highway speeds.

The only drawback is the tank capacity. I feel I'm filling it up a bit more often, the Versys had about another day of riding before it needed it. Or I might just be paranoid of running out of gas and topping it off more often.

As for riding comfort, I had the stock seat on the Versys, and stock on the 1100 at the moment. Both are comfortable, and I feel very similar on both. I had a chance to get another Versys, and I'm glad I grabbed the CB1100. My father has an 08 Concourse 1400, and that's a whole different beast. IMO, much better for long trips.

Well the Versys has a 5 gallon tank and only 2 cyls and 650cc to feed. How much are you putting in when filling up? You should be getting about 45 mpg at freeway speeds of 70+ ( up to 55 mpg on back roads). On a 3.9 gal tank you should be looking at about 180 miles per tank at freeway speeds over 70 mph. The gas gauge/fuel blocks on the CB are pessimistic, but the gas consumption on the trip computer is really close.

New to the forum. I am in the process of shopping for a new bike and not exactly sure what I'll land on. I currently ride a 2009 Versys 650 with bags and other farkles. Love my bike but looking to change it up. On my short list of bikes are the Versys 1000, Concours` 14 or the totally opposite end of the spectrum is the CB1100. Every time I see the cb1100 I love it. My question to those with windshields, how comfortable are you on the highway? I know the seat is nice and flat but do the available windshields provide enough comfort for 2-3ish hour stints on the highway? I don't do any crazy mile eating, so I'm thinking it might be possible to be happy with the CB1100 if I do want to load it up and go camping several hours away. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
We all do! That's why most of us bought ours!

My CB is bone stock (no windshield, highway pegs, bar risers or fancy seat) and it's just fine for 8-10 hour days. I'm able to get 210-225 miles from a tank of gas (DLX), so range isn't an issue. I do try to avoid freeways but they're certainly not a problem. I have other bikes better suited to long-haul touring but the CB is very capable and satisfying, mostly I believe due to its torque and smoothness (not unlike the C14, but any such comparison is apples and oranges). Certainly ride one before you decide.
I’ve only one bike: my CB1100. There’s no faring or windshield—there are more of you than you think, EmptySea and Rotor. Just a top box and room across the back seat for camping gear and clothes when I go touring on it. Which I do whenever I can. There are almost certainly better bikes for long distance touring, but the CB is quite capable of it and a joy to do it on.

I don’t mind the small tank capacity. There’s at least a couple of hours riding in it and every one should have a stretch and a break after a couple of hours. Stopping for fuel is a good excuse. However, in those parts of Australia where it can be a long way between petrol stations, a little planning is required.
The most fuel I've ever put in my '14 std is 3.5 gallons. And that's after riding another 15 miles after the last bar on the fuel indicator began flashing.
Wow guys!! Thank you for all the input!! I wasn't expecting the amount of help!! I think once I sell my Versys, things will get more serious and I see if I can hunt down a left over 14. I think everyone has pegged it just right. I definitely don't tour crazy miles like our Gold Wing brethren. So perhaps I'll be swinging a leg over a CB soon enough.
You will not regret it. The CB 1100 is a beautiful precision machine. It is a masterpiece of engineering, machining and ergonomics. They thought of everything with this one.
Welcome Big-X.

On tour I always carry a 2l reserve fuel canister with me in addition to the tank volume. Never used it but on 2 trips I was near by. It's mainly there to ease a worried mind, if I ride into an out of gas situation and no petrol station is in sight, what doesn't happen so easily in most parts of Europe. Strange enough that it was the case on a longer part of the AB coming from France over Saarbrücken heading to Frankfurt by night... in the north of Finnland through endless woods direction Norway Finnmark it was more understandable.

I just came back from riding a borrowed Versys 1000(surely beats renting a car) for 900 miles in another country. What's said in the first post is true, the Versys is almost the polar opposite of the CB1100. I haven't ridden a 650 but the 1000 is very, very noisy compared to the CB and wind buffeting over the stock screen is deafening(6'). You need real good earplugs to ride at elevated speeds. The CB is much quieter, even without a windscreen.
Although the Versys has loads of HP and torque and a big tank, more electronics etc. I'd vote for the CB anytime!

Not much to tell, don't have any accessories. 2014 model, not deluxe . . . Great machine though! Had an '06 Ducati GT 1000 and this bike reminds me a lot of the GT. Haven't tried to do any wheelies or anything on the Honda though Lol!
