While I was at [url=https://www.ironpony.com]Iron Pony yesterday, I picked up an item that's been on my wish list a while. I bought a pair of [url=https://www.amazon.com/Speed-Strength-Knock-Motorcycle-Leather/dp/B0081HW7ZK]Speed and Strength Hard Knock Life boots in 2012 and they've been great for fair-weather riding and days when I ride in to work. I don't have to change out of them in the office if I am wearing casual pants. Last season I realized that while they are holding up overall, the toe panels are dry-rotting and coming apart making them look a bit shabby for the office. After some looking around, I settled on the [url=http://www.rideicon.com/gear/mens/footwear/superduty-5/black]Icon Super Duty 5 boot.

They feel extremely comfortable and are moderately light weight. I like the street shoe styling that I think masks the fact that they are motorcycle boots.

cool. Nice looking boots. Not waterproof I assume?

I need taller soles Undecided lol Looking for a pair of lightweight side zip tactical type boot with vibram (aka waffle stomper) soles that's waterproof for riding the FJR
Interesting, and thanks. Yes, would be nice to know about their water-repellent characteristics.
No these are not waterproof. I'm just using them for fair-weather riding. If rain is likely, I wear my [url=https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-new-land-gtx-boots]Alpinestars New Land GTX boots.
Ferret I too wear the tactile boots with the side zipper. I got mine at Sears , they were on sale and bought 2 pairs. There are very similar to Bates boots.
I have the Super Duty 4. Love them. Super comfortable.
Thumbs Up I think Icon have gone in a different direction with the 5, evolving from a work boot style to a tech sneaker concept.
I like my icons....if its a day ride I prefer them over my Klim goretex boots.
But for over night trips I can't chance having wet boots the next morning.
Also the icons are a little thicker and warmer for below 50 degrees day rides.
Ferret - are you looking for moto boots or generic? Hiking soled (I’m assuming by vibram waffle you mean that?) side zip waterproof moto boots are quite a tall order!
Puma Flat2 GTX V2

These are walkable pretty well anywhere. But, they have that geeky motorcycle appearance. They have a waterproof side zipper. Uses Gore-Tex.
