Is it a common requirement for boots (of any size) to be able to pass through riding pants as one puts them on? Taking off?
It might not be needed for riding pants but for rain pants it is very important to me that I can put them on without having to take my boots off first.

To me it is, I only wear riding pants on cold morning commute, over my work clothes.

Agreed.

I did that yesterday and two pant zippers disintegrated - cheap white metal it appears. Duct tape did its amazing magic. Smile
If the pants have a full or near full length side zipper, they’re made to be put on over boots. Otherwise no.
