I drove this road in '85 when we vacationed in the Dakotas and Yellowstone National Park. It is a very beautiful and challenging road and it would have been better by motorcycle. Much wildlife to be seen also with the biggest hazard to riders being wild donkeys.

Looks like a good road for the " need to ride" list. Have ridden in the Black Hills, but not on that road.
Here is one list of the top 10 motorcycle roads in the US
http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/north-...-rides.htm
I have ridden 7 of the 10 on the discovery list ( missing 1,3 and 9)
I would also add Going to the Sun Road in Montana, Pacific Coast Highway in California, Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire, and Highway 1 thru the Florida Everglades
All of which I have ridden as well.
If you come to the rally you will ride 2 of them.

Hmmm, are you sure about that?
I see US1 graces a corner of the Everglades in the Southern Gates, but I wouldn't consider that a good road. Now if you keep going down to Key West you will ride the 7 mile bridge and you probably would have a good time
.P.S. Just avoid Holidays at all cost.

You're missing 1, 3, and 9 Ferret? I'm showing 3 as Cherohala. Am I reading the list wrong?

On the discovery list I posted
#9 Needles Highway South Dakota, #1 Three Sisters Texas, and #5 San Juan Colorado I'm missing. Maybe I hit the wrong number.
San Pete it's been since 1977 but I remember riding as far as you could down the coast by the Atlantic thru the keys and yes across that long bridge over the ocean.. Very cool
Funny my wife and I did that ride in 1977 and I didn't accomplish the bookend ride, Highway 1 on the California coast next to the Pacific Ocean until this year, 37 years later. Finally got it done though!
