Well, Friday evening, a week ago, it was already really dark under the clouds when I wanted to turn left into the lane to the restaurant to meet with some friends to have a nice dinner and some fun.

I overlooked the choker/narrowing, run up the curb in a pointed angle with the front wheel, dropped to the right and felt at my right shoulder. I had bad luck and my right clavicle was broken.

Didn't notice it at all in the beginning, while I got up back on my feet really quickly. However, when I wanted to lift the bike, I noticed, something seems to be wrong with my right shoulder. Then I could feel with my fingers that there is a gap in my clavicle.

Went over to my friends at the restaurant to ask my friends to look for my bike. Then my wife came and brought me to the hospital. The x-rays showed a really displaced clavicle. However, next day was the day of the marriage of my son. Really bad! So I just got a pile of painkillers and was home again at 11:30 pm. 7:00 am we started to drive 200 km to Freiburg to celebrate my son's marriage, Sunday evening I was home again quite groggy.

Monday I was at the doctor again, Tuesday was the op to fix my anatomics and yesterday I left the hospital. I'm still down and in desperate need of painkillers. But it's getting better every day, the clavicle is fixed again and just has to recover.

This is exactly one year after my last accident, when I was hit by a car and crashed my bike. That's too bad. Before that I had my last crash with a motorcycle 1989, many years ago. But these days I seem to try to fix the statistics...

Major bummer! I also broke a clavicle in a fall off a mountain bike, so those x-rays bring back some memories. Luckily, I didn't require surgery as you did.

You'll heal up soon, things will get better and you'll be out on the bike before long. Glad you're okay!

Maybe in 2019 the last week in September time for bike maintenance.

Wow, Django! Very sorry to hear of your accident. I'd think if the accident didn't put you in the hospital overnight, your wife might have...due to the risk of not making it to your son's wedding! You're 2X lucky.

I've heard a broken clavicle is common when putting out your arm to stop your fall. It's instinct...nothing you could do to prevent it.

Heal quickly!

Major bummer Django. That looks like it might hurt... a lot. Yowsa. Good news is, like I just experienced, these things are short lived setbacks, they do heal, and you do get to ride again in about a month and a half or so.
