Yeah, I shaved the beard and the wife and kids were like "Egads! WHO are you?" so I grew it back. I'll probably shave it again the morning of my 50th birthday later this year.
And no the bike did not take two years. The "after" pictures were taken that summer. The bike has moved to Maryland to the home of a gentleman that had the exact same bike as a young man 50 years ago!
I never really bonded with the Honda and I have a 1967 R60/2 that is my vintage sweetheart. She won first place in the German class two years ago at a local show...again beardless

That looks like Utah in the background in the first pic. Maybe the Green or Colorado River.
