So rain was forecasted today and I drove to work in my cage. Wimpy, lame, yes.

I turned left out of my driveway onto my rural road. I drove about 0.2 miles to an intersection with a 2-lane highway, where I turn left and head north toward civilization and daily servitude.

While I'm stopped at the 4-way stop sign intersection, a guy on a Harley motors across the intersection from the opposite direction and passes by me.

I noticed that his un-helmeted head was cocked at an angle to his left.

As he rode by, I saw that the dude was cradling a cell phone between his ear and his shoulder while riding!

I wish I could have taken a picture.

There was a county cop stopped right behind me. Did he pursue the flagrant and stupid and insurance-premium-inflating lawbreaker?

No.
Was the cop on the phone or tapping away at his console? Tongue

There is danger lurking everywhere and more often each year it seems. Just what we need are more riders joining the cage problem space.

Today, as most days, I see drivers from the higher perch of the Mule speaking into or tapping on their phones while everyone is doing 120 km/h or more. The cages vasilate in their lane and I continuously adjust, or just get out of the area at the next opportunity.
Is it illegal to ride/drive while talking on a handheld cellphone in KY? It's not illegal here.

It sure is here, but judging by the flagrant use/texting of phones while driving, you would think the opposite was true.

Yes it is! Hands-free only. You don’t need a helmet here, but no talking on your handheld! ROFL

One of our student co-ops at work was driving in Canada for business, using Google Maps. She was fined CDN $250!

Yeah, that seems absurd.

The only thing I can think of is she was touching the device, or it was not configured to connect to the vehicle's heads-up display (or dash) which meant she had to look down at it.
I think I took a pic of a Harley rider talking on a cell phone while rolling down the road not too long ago. Maybe I can find it.

Inquiring minds want to know...
Lol too many days of photos to look thru. I couldnt find it. If memory serves me it only looked like a guy cupping his left ear anyway, since I was on the right side of him in traffic, but I remember being amazed because he had no hand available for the clutch if needed. If the phone was on a lanyard around his neck he could have just let it go and let it drop, but I think he was just holding it free hand so to speak.
Insane...
