2020 is going to be unusal for me. Due to the medical issues I have had in 2019 ( and continue to battle) which forced me to miss 53 days of riding (vs the 12 snow/ice related days missed and the 3 rain related days missed) and causing me to miss meeting my yearly goal of 300 days riding per year in 2019, I have decided for the first time in many, many years not to set any goals, either for days ridden or mileage for 2020. Further I am not going to plan any trips or rallies at this time.
If I feel good enough to ride on any given day, I will ride. Distance doesnt matter. I will ride for as long as I feel like riding. If I feel good enough to head out on a trip, I will. If I am able to make the east coast rally, I will be there ( haven't missed one yet). Same goes for my annual Men's Fall Trip I take with family members. If I feel up to it, I'm going. It's all going to be very last minute decisions.
I've had a goal for many years to ride until I am 70. That will be in 157 days from now, so I do hope to meet that one, but whether I ride 300 days or 150 days, or whether I ride 20,000 miles or 10,000 miles in 2020, I'm just not going to worry about it. I plan on trying to get/be as healthy as I can, and let the days, the miles, and the trips take care of themselves.

That's the way to do it. No one will think any less.

That's sounds like a great plan! Hope you stay healthy so maybe we can ride to ND & SD with MTC next summer!
I've already ridden more miles after age 60 than I did my entire life before.
Before 6000mi on the CB350, 12,000mi in the CB750 and 2000mi (very quick) miles on the GPZ750 ;-)
After 7,000mi on the CB1100 and 21,000mi on the K1600.
My only big goal is to ride the coastal hwy from CA to WA. Didn't really want to take the time, mileage or deal with tire replacement to do it from IN.
Might just fly to Las Vegas and rent one! Maybe take the mountain route up and coast down (I've been told ride it from north to south so your lane is on the water? Any suggestions here are welcome.

Interesting thought about riding it north to south offroad. In 2014 I rode it south to north and can't say I noticed not being right next to the ocean, since it's a 2 lane following the coast, but that makes sense. I think I like looking to my left rather than looking to my right lol. Personally I thought the best part of the road was in northern California up to Washington, probably due to it being not so touristy, but the coast from Monterey up to San Fran was very scenic and a must ride. BTW I like riding the BRP from north to south as well.
If I am feeling up to it, a trip to N & S Dakota with you and Sea would be awesome!

OffRoad -- I have the seedling of a plan to have a couple of us trailer our groups' bikes to Vegas. The rest of the group would fly to Las Vegas and then we'd ride from there to Death Valley and then west to the PCH. That's not happening in 2020, but maybe in 2021. Probably in early spring to catch the wildflowers in Death Valley. When is your spring break?
Ferret/OffRoad -- How much time do you think I'd need to take off of work? I think we could do this over a long weekend (maybe with me leaving Chicago on a Thursday and returning by Tuesday). I'd suggest that I meet the two of you someplace near the Illinois/Wisconsin border, but way west of Chicago. No reason for you to fight that traffic.
2020 Motorcycling Goals
1. Continue my streak of riding at least once every month (started in March, 2014)
2. Attend the Eastern CB1100 Rally
3. Ride 180 days in 2020 (an average of every other day is pretty ambitious for a working stiff)
4. Ride at least 13,000 miles
5. Ride with Ferret
6. Visit at least 10 Tour of Honor sites
7. Complete my second Saddle Sore 1000 (or other Iron Butt ride)

1. Not get hit by anything
2. Lose weight so my gear isn't so tight
3. Take an off-road riding course
4. Find the time to take a ride up Highway 1 to San Francisco. Didn't get the chance this year.

No particular goals for next summer - just more of the same. No tours or trips planned - just local riding by the ocean on the coastal roads.

Sea it depends on if you want to just hit S&N Dakota (a very long way from any of us) or the cool parts of N&S Dakota (sw corner of SD and nw corner of N Dakota) a very VERY long way from any of us.lol
