I've got a lead on a FJ 1300 local, 2010 model with 31000 miles for 7800, which dealer says will include a new set of tires.
That still seems about 1000 higher than full retail according to kbb and nada.
I'm heading up to Cherokee for a week of riding the end of April and am ooking for a Sport Tourer with enough luggage and comfort for a 5 hour ride.
Ferret and others with input please weigh in

I'm thinking about trading my 2018A FJR in on a 2021 NC 750X DCT. It 's a 6 speed, with cruise control, slipper clutch, ride by wire throttle, led lighting front & rear, heated grips, traction control, sport & touring ride modes, electric windshield etc. Garaged, sanely ridden and never been over 5 000 rpms. Has had both recalls done (Yamaha recalled all 2016- 2020 Fjrs ( the 6 speed years) to replace 2nd gear and the front brake switch.), has a Givi 47 liter trunk, and a Yamaha Touring shield. It has been lowered 1/2 inch to accommodate my short legs with Soupys Adjustable Lowering Links, but I have the stock dog bones. 38,500 miles. Has some scratches on it from a non-moving drop in a gravel parking lot, but it's not bad ( I fared worse with a broken left arm from the fall lol). Lists for $13, 200 retail. I imagine the dealer will offer me $10,500 but I'm waiting to here back from him with the numbers. If we can't make the trade I would sell it to you for $ 11,500. About the same mileage as the one you are looking at, 11 years newer, with lots of significant upgrades over the 07, and some nice farkles for not much more jingle.

Does yours have the height adjustable seat? Also I was curious about the valve service mileage interval for these bikes.

Yes seat height is adjustable. Valve adjustment interval is 26,500 miles, but like a CB 1100. it's rare that they need adjustment and most guys wait until 53,000 miles to have them checked if they have to go to a shop to have it done. The mechanical types who like to tear things apart check them at factory recommended intervals because they can lol.

My CB is at 58,000 and never been checked.

FjR's are great bikes. Sporty, relatively light weight, fast, and handle well. They had some heating issues, and some cam chain issues in some model years, but that has all been updated. First introduced in Europe in 2001 and 2002 in the states as 2003 models. Yamaha has continually updated the FJR, unlike Honda with the ST 1300. I think their run is done with th he 2020 models due to Euro 5 emissions.

Ok made the deal with the dealer so my FJR is off the market and come June I will be riding a new bike, a 2021 NC 750X DCT

(still keeping my CB 1100 though ..it ain't going anywhere)

I'm Looking forward to it. Can you take off that little beak off the front below the headlight or is it a permanently mounted thing? That's the only thing that bothers me about the looks of the NC, but I can learn to live with it lol

What accessories do you recommend GO? I was thinking handguards, heated grips, CB4 cramp buster, center stand if it doesn't come with it, luggage rack, battery pigtail jr.

I m still keeping my eye out for a good used FJR if I can't get the price down on the local one

The '18 came with a center stand; I believe the 2021 does too.

Yeah, that beak. I didn't notice it, but yeah ... not attractive at all. I did nothing with it for the time I had it. Just piled on the mileage.

I put Grip Puppies on the grips. It probably didn't need it, but my grip was more comfortable with them.

Mine came with a fused SAE extension to a "12V circuit" (I think ? it was switched with the ignition) tucked inside the Frunk. Very convenient. I added a SAE-to-USB adapter to measure my battery voltage and power/charge my tech junk in the Frunk.

I did mount a cramp buster, but didn't use it much probably because my wrist was having "good days".

I used the same 50L+ top box on the NC as I did on the CB. I had no side cases.

Everything just worked on the bike, just the OEM tires really sucked.

lol - that would be the one and only Arlette for the NC (DCT).
