Yesterday, my wife wanted to go look at Halloween decorations and to lunch. As I hadn't driven my truck in a while (2010 Honda Ridgeline), figured we'd take it. When I started it, the low tire pressure light came on for the left rear tire, so I pulled it over to the garage and topped off all 4, since all 4 were actually low. Left rear was just the lowest lol.

Anyhow when we got back home, I checked the odometer and it read 67,467. When I got in the house, I checked my calendar log to see what the odometer read on Jan 1st, which I always record at the beginning of the year. On Jan 1st it read 65,828.

Simple math 67,467 minus 65,828 gives you 1,639. So, this year I have driven my truck 1,639 miles.

My calendar also said as of yesterday, I had ridden my CB 1100 4,507 miles and my NC 750 12,360 miles so far this year for a total of 16,867 miles.

I've put a little over 10 times as many miles on the bikes, as on my truck so far this year.

Fun numbers! I'm more in the neighborhood of 3:1 (roughly 9k to 3k miles on the PU),,, but still in favor of the bikes.

Ha. My Fiesta ST has been under a cover and on a tender for months now. Honestly can't remember the last time I drove it. We're looking at another "El Nino" Winter, which means rain, and with Mrs. G going back to an actual building other than our house for work, I imagine the Baby Ford will have to wake up soon. Reilable car, but if she's not driven, the window switches don't work for the first day. Must be her way of complaining about not being used.

But in some climate regions of the world, that is unsustainable.

Imagine a day like all the others,
may be a long day at work,
you go take the pick-up to get groceries,
next home on busy roads,
shops, semis, concrete, ... and people everywhere, more people, cars and people,
finally at home, you open the garage and roll her out in front of the lawn,
engine purring.

A few drops of rain,
you put the helmet on, visor down,
first, second, third ...
one turn on the interstate, and off again,
a small country road, city limit, a few farms, no more traffic.

4 cylinders vibrating under your knees, then the handle bar, then the seat,...
stay in four, feel the wind, or shift down to three,
more roar, more wind, more unity,
not speed that matter, but nature, the bike and the rider.

What a nice end of a day, ... unlike all the others.

I have always kept track of the mileages accumulated on all of my vehicles.

Last year (2022) I rode my eight motorcycles a total of 14,153 miles. I drove my car and pickup truck a total of 777 miles.

This is pretty usual for me; in 2021 the split was 15,074/890.

Not bad for living in SW Pennsylvania.
