Very nice! Please tell us what parts you used, where to get them, and what the bill for the total project was. It appears that you had thw sissy bar welded onto the stock grab rail, then had the assembly re-chromed?

Doesn't look rechromed in the sissy area to me. Maybe painted over the weld?

A neighbour with mechanical engineering expertise and tools kindly helped me make a skookum sissy bar for the CB1100.
Used bent stainless 1" tube, 16" high by 10 " wide in an upturned U shaped loop.
Bolted the stainless tube ends to a piece of 1/4" thick aluminum angle iron, 3" high X 2" base, using 2 bolts on each side of the U tube. The new aluminum base is bolted with 5/16" stainless bolts to the OEM rear rack using the 2 front crossbar mounting screw holes on the rack. The base overlaps the rear rack edges to spread the load to the rack tubes and not stress the crossbar on the rack. The system still allows me to remove the rear seat easily.
We cut and ground the aluminum base, angling the edges to match the tube alignment and rear rack tube shape and we rounded the sharp edges of the aluminum to avoid cutting into the rucksack or mounting straps.
The sissy bar system now mounts either of my old New Zealand Hallmark rucksacks(predecessor to the current Ventura system) which have a two skin back, so it just slips over the sissy bar and I tie down with my rucksack nylon back-straps to the rear luggage rack tubes. Any T bag will now fit on the sissy bar, either on the rear seat or on the rack itself. Can now mount 2 bags at the same time, one on the rack and one on the rear seat. I can remove the whole system in a few minutes just by removing the 2 base bolts. We made two U tubes, one short and 1 long. I will mount an ebay sourced universal passenger backrest to the shorter one
So happy with the result. Looks like it belongs! Now I am ready for my first big trip on the CB1100.
