Yesterday was the annual Black Dog Ride with a series of one-day rides all over Australia. The Black Dog Ride raises money for mental health services. More information at http://www.blackdogride.com.au/

As it was a good cause and I like a ride, I figured to go along. It was a good, hot Queensland day and the rain held off, although we need it so badly it would have been kind of welcome. There were plenty of bikes and the ride kicked off at the Ettamogah Pub and followed an agreeable route with some freeway (very little), hills, twisties, and flat country roads, many of which I've written about before.

On the way out to our turning point at Kilcoy, I followed a very nice looking 1977 Goldwing, although I didn't know what it was until I got home and hunted around on the net for it. It looked like the one here, [url=http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/found-on-ebay-gold-wing.aspx#axzz2wpWhw614.]http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/found-on-ebay-gold-wing.aspx#axzz2wpWhw614.
At a moment when I could try to take a picture of it, I couldn't find it.

Anyway, for those who like the pictures, here are some.

This is the Ettamogah Pub. Its weird design is based on a regular comic in a magazine, the name of which I can't remember. The comic ran forever and the pub became iconic.

Good looking Vincent

That's the Goldwing in front of me

Hard to see, but that's the police on the other side of the road checking us out. There's a war on bikie gangs in Queensland at the moment, but that's another story.

This looks like it was a great day and for such a good cause too. Great photos Cormanus , love your work!!

+1

The original Wings had a very distinctive rear end and set of pipes. Very cool motorcycles. Almost bought a yellow one a couple years ago. Very cool sighting, as is the lass with the long blonde pony tail and full leathers. Wink. When I was young girls didn't ride solo much and they certainly didn't look cool like that.
In the picture above, there is another lass with a mighty head of blue hair. There were lots of women riding solo on the ride. It's good to see, in my view.
Yes. it's a good thing in my view as well.

Nice camera work with the rear view too Cormanus.

I'd love to beg a ride on that Vincent

I had to go back and look at the pics to see the girl I had missed...ahh there she is...I thought that was a back pack at first viewing (I have one the same color lol). Unusual color for hair.
Some great pictures Cormanus, spotted some Hondas we have never
seen here in the US.
Excellent pics, Cormanus. Couldn't tell if your intent was to shoot the blondes backside or the view looking back in your mirror!

Australian truth in advertising?? Big Grin

I love that sign!Beer
Lovely scenery and good cause for a ride. Really enjoyed your trip report, Cormanus!
Looks like a great place to ride only it seems you blokes are on the wrong side of the road...
