I live in CA and in order to bring in a new bike it must meet CA emission regs in addition to Federal.
Can any of you guys that live around the country see if the emission sticker says Federal, 50 State, or California, or any combination.
If I buy a used bike or new, it must meet the standard.
Thanks

How many miles are on the bike you are looking at? If it is over 5000 then you don't have to worry about it being 50 state or not.
My sticker, located under seat on the fender says 'This vehicle conforms to U.S. EPA and State of California applicable to 2013 model year new motorcycles'.

Bought this bike new in Idaho.

I love it anyway.
Proceed with caution. Cal is very fussy about bikes purchased out of state. Many people have run into major problems with out of state purchases. If possible get written conformation from DMV. Good luck.

California has (or used to have) the strictest emission standards in North American, and possibly the world. Remarkable lead by example. I had a couple bikes in Canada that were explicitly marked to meet state CA standards.
It's amazing to think California on its own has a bigger population -- more than 10% of the entire U.S. -- than all of Canada.
I think its GDP is approximately the size of Canada too (possibly more).

The California region has many desirable attributes that attracts both creativity and intelligence. It makes sense that industries and institutions would follow. Of course, one has to weigh all the trade-offs.
