My brother called wanting to ride yesterday. I rode up from my place in Vidor, Texas to Buna to meet up with him at my mother's house. We then rode to Port Arthur because my brother-in-law called and wanted to go.

We started down Hwy 365 to Nome when we stopped to top off on gas. My BIL decided we need to go to Crystal Beach to see his sister's beach cabin. So we backtracked to 1406 and went to Winnie, then headed to Bolivar Peninsula.

After stopping for a burger and checking out the beach cabin (the neighbor asked what year my "cb750" was), the other two were ready to head home. After we dropped my BIL back off in Port Arthur, my brother and I split off. He headed home, but I rode around Bridge City and Orange a little bit. I pulled in with just over 300 miles for the day.

My CB, my brother's Honda Shadow 750, and my BIL's new CTX.

Sounds like a great ride. I ride with family a lot. It's comforting for me.

Congrats.

I wish I had some cool scenery photos to post. But, around here it's mostly refineries and industry. Bolivar Peninsula is about the closest beach (well except for Sea Rim in Sabine Pass), but the beaches around here are pretty muddy and the horizon is filled with oil rigs. But the people down there are friendly. Bolivar was destroyed by Hurricane Ike (20 foot storm surge at high tide) but has returned nicely. The last time I was here was right after Ike, and there were hardly any beach cabins or businesses and the levy was completely washed away.
Nice grouping of Hondas. My wife rides a black CTX and she likes it a lot. Not exactly my style, but it's a very good bike and gets great fuel mileage. I hope your brother-in-law enjoys it as much as she does.

He never had a bike that I remembered (he's in his 60's) until a few years ago when he bought a Silverwing. He liked the automatic. So, when he decided to get a bike, he decided on the CTX automatic. He likes it a lot.
My wife's is not an automatic..but Honda's automatic (DCT) system is really slick from what I have heard.
Sounds good username.
