I think east side we saw a ton of bridges off to our left. We are by the airport

Found the time to drive/ ride in Portland. 9 pm. Roads were clear..smooth sailing. Enjoyed my evening drive over to Laurelhurst park to see our daughter in law and family in for a wedding there.
Ferret I hope your trip still has a few days left and the weather is good for you! Did you ride from OH to OR?
Thank you Gossman and Flynrider for the great tips! We will check out your recommendations. We definitely will be hiking a good amount and trying to eat some local seafood. My son and I might go on a half day fishing and crabbing charter. Powell bookstore in Portland will be a stop as well.

Oregon coast has some spectacular scenery
Dr rock, I did oh to west coast ride last year. This year I am out for a wedding, so flew into LA, went to the wedding rented a car and am driving up the coast
I have to say you guys and gals that ride the northwest coast must be hardy souls. It was so cold and windy on the coast. The wind was ferocious and the guy at Seal Caves said they are " those darn north winds we get this time of the year".
If you are looking for something to do the weekend of Aug 14-16, you might want to check out the Rainforest Run in Forks Washington.
I was planning to go, but I pick my new bike that weekend.

We had a great trip.Yeah that tank bag was expanded all the way. It really wasn't much of a factor even in the 20mph winds (with 30mph gusts) that persisted for a few afternoons. Thats where we kept our cameras, binoculars, I-pad, snacks, water bottle, and Lesli's trumpet. Having travelled that stretch of 101 and always saying next time I want to see more , we finally did! Sea stacks, capes, points, beaches, old growth Sitka Spruce, and clean air. We saw Gray whales (once from our hotel room window), Osprey, and hundreds of Harleys and BMW. The rivers that flow to the coast aside from being beautiful have fun roads along side. If anyone gets to Gold Beach ride up the Rouge River 35 miles to Agness and grab a bite to eat! I was told that from Agness to Grants Pass (on I-5) it's 1 lane paved, next time! More photos soon.

I know that is what I always carry with me, on a ride!
Headed back to Oregon coast in the morning. Ecola and the Sea Stacks, Astoria, bridge from Oregon to Washington bridge, up the coast some more....
I live in Seaside which is about 20 min South of Astoria, there is a volleyball tournament going on this weekend here which packs a lot of people into town and makes traffic pretty bad but if you head out on 101 there is some awesome view points heading south.
