I carry a small digital point and shoot camera on a lanyard around my neck and shoot pics with my left hand

This trip I took my touring bike, a Honda ST 1300. It needed a workout. I'm trying to put 100,000 miles on it before I'm too old. I'm at 62,000 miles now and figure I need at maybe 4 more years splitting mileage as I do. Riding this also keeps my mileage down on the CB. When you ride between 20 and 30K miles a year as I do, you tend to wear them out and I'd like the CB to last awhile.
What a great ride Mickey. As usual the pics are beautiful. I've been on all those roads in years past and can remember in the early 70's riding all day and not see another motorcycle.

Well that explains your casual answer about 400 miles in a day :-)
I wonder how the CB seat would treat you? I'm looking into a ride to Vermont to see my kid, and it may involve two 600 mile days in a row. It'll be interesting!
Bob here is my report from a ride to the area on my 2013. Stock seat. first day 473 miles 10 hours ( see post 1)
Some of the pics are missing now, but you get the flavor.

I went back to the area on my DLX in 14 and again in 15 for the rally. 3 of us rode together back from the rally straight through 2 on 13s and me on my 14 all with stock seats I believe. Mine was the short ride at 400 + miles, Duh and DAC each went 100 miles further.
600 miles would require 12 hours in the saddle. long day but doable. hydrate, and increase the rest stops later in the ride. Perhaps an air hawk or a gel seat pad would help you as well. If you are not used to riding long distances it might be tough though. Long Distance riders are made, not born
I have put in 15 hours on the KLR with no ill effects, but this seat is a different animal. But I likes me a challenge

Any reports of an Iron Butt on a CB?
15 hours on a KLR? This should be a piece of cake for you!
Wonderful report and I may very well plan a ride in this area when it's my turn to put together our group's "big ride". When I started reading this report, I thought you might be going to WVA which is where we're headed next fall (we hope)
Great pictures and text. Thanks.

Hey Bob, I did a trip (with the stock seat) this summer with a 500 mi. day at the beginning and a 450 mile day at the end. I'd done plenty of 300+ mile days before that without complaint, but I noticed that past about 400 miles my butt was getting sore where the seat narrows and gets thinner towards the front. After that trip I got a Tiros-K seat which is wider, flatter and has firmer padding. I think that'll do the long distance trick for me.
Very cool. Love that menu! Thanks for sharing ferret!
