When I go riding I almost always head east from my house. East is going deeper in the country. Going west means going toward the city. More people, more traffic, more well..everything. I am not a city person.

Anyhow I decided today I would vernture west a bit and show y'all some of what is in that direction.

First I had to get thru the Black Headed Vultures that were working on a dead deer carcass on the left side of the road in this pic. These birds are slow to rise and invariably float across the road in front of you. One's feet hit my wife's helmet one time, but this time they cleared me

Once past the vultures I went down to the road that borders the river, US 52, and turned west toward the city. About 5 miles upriver, I came upon the site where last week a 20 something year old woman high on prescription drugs ran over a bicyclist, and kept on going. They caught her shortly afterwards. The cylist died the next day and the bicycling community put up a "Ghost Bike" in his honor.

a few miles further west things start getting "busy". First comes the old River Downs Race Track (horses) that is now called Belterra Park. They still have horse racing but now they have regular gambling as well

[url=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/theferret111/media/CB%20ride%20Feb%2020%202016%20006_zps2d1lgp7o.jpg.html][Image: deeb1d6b665d83302fb29eba9b19d322.jpg]

right next to that is Riverbend Music Center where they have national recording artists come in to play. Some fans sit in the stands, some in the grass and some on boats in the river to listen

and right next to that is Coney Island amusement park. Btw that bridge visible in the right side of the this pic and the last is one of the bridges between Ohio and Kentucky

Further west are the marinas which boat on the river in the summer. As I enter the old east end of the city I turn north and roll past Lunken Airport which is a small airport on the east side of the city

Have to go to grandsons BD party now, more when I return
Look forward to more, young man.

Happy birthday to the grandson.
Two thumbs up and a heck yeah.Thumbs UpThumbs UpExcitedExcited
It always amazes me how devoid everyone else's roads are so devoid of traffic, not like that around here. Was that another bike out in front of Coney Island ?
Nice ride, to a birthday party no less. Cake and ice cream no doubt and hopefully the winds had abated.
OK..so I passed the airport, turned east on St Rt 125 and went across the levee over the Little Miami River, hooked a right onto St Rt 32 and another right onto a road called Clough Pike (pronounced Cluff). Nice winding road. I used to bomb this road back in 1973 on my RD 350 Yamaha, but these days it's a link road between a couple of malls and traffic was horrible (not by Chapomis's or MG's standards but by the ferret's rural Ohio standards) and when I came to a road called 8 Mile road, I took the opportunity to escape traffic and again turned north

8 mile road...ahh much better

[url=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/theferret111/media/CB%20ride%20Feb%2020%202016%20013_zpsjjly3o1i.jpg.html][Image: 935b750659a4f39c1538a83ce4d538ba.jpg]

I hooked around and headed for a nice curvy road called Teal Town Rd which runs along another river passing this Farmers Market. Apparently Farmers don't have much to sell right now being winter and all, even if it felt like summer.

Once I hit US 50 I was heading east toward home. A right 276 at Owensville took me over to Williamsburg where a right on St Rt 133 took me south to the town of Bethel crossing over this creek where I stopped to take a call from my son about borrowing chairs for todays party.

some zigs and zags off ST RT 222 found me heading south on the sinewy undulating road I call "My Road" aka St RT 743 as it took me once again down to US 52 along the Ohio river. What a great road. This barn on 743 has certainly seen better days.

I again turn west because the circuitous loop I have taken to this point, has now dumped me about 10 miles east of my home town.

A nice cruise along the river put me down in town where I sit on one of the benches on Main St drinking my tea while overlooking the river on one side and my CB on the other

118 miles in total on a 73 degree day in late February. Awesome!
Looks like a great day. For those of us following along at home, can you confirm that you were on State Routes 50 and 52 and not on US 50 and 52?
Nice ride Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Amazing temps for this time of year!

I corrected the text and filled in the names of a few other roads. Heck didn't know anyone followed along THAT closely lol
You ride some great roads and I like to make note of them in case I'm ever in the area.
