Hi Baz - About 3 years ago a guy here in the UK had his cylinder barrels painted by Honda under warranty - its the only successful claim I've heard of for flaking engine paint on a CB 1100 - the engine had to be stripped to perform the work.
i would rather put up with fin rot or black barrels than have my nearly new engine torn down - even if Honda did do the work.

Thanks again, guys. There's no way the engine is going to be removed and stripped, for what is just a cosmetic colour change and with only 165 miles on it!! I really like the silver engines and I really DON'T like the black ones. Fortunately, the heads are silver so I'll just be content with what I've got.

BTW to have a Norton refurbished like this cost $ 34K provided you supply a good donor bike.

How's the $12,100 price of that new CB-EX looking now? lol
Theres a good chance I’ll be restoring a 1970 650 Bonneville here soon and while it will be a complete nut/bolt restoration but there is no way in heck it will cost $34,000.
