Mt Evans!

Another exciting long day in the saddle. Left LRs about 8:30 am pulled back in about 5:30 pm. 275 miles today. We rode up Mt Evans, rode over Guanella Pass, Kenosha Pass, Ute Pass and Wilkerson Pass. We had an awesome late breakfast in the town of Fairplay ( the town in the cartoon South Park) at the Brown Burro, and we rode home along the Platt River. Just returned from dinner in the town of Red Rock.

I am about passed out ( figuratively and literally lol) on my body and mind it's like 1 am right now.

Tomorrow is our last day of riding before heading home and I think LR is planning on taking us up and down some of the local canyons.

Been an awesome trip so far except for a little afternoon rain, but we dried out, so it's all good.

Pikes Peak is more "family friendly". Comparitivly speaking the road to the top is much much better, wider, centerline, good road surface. The scenery going up is more park like imo. The road going up Mt Evans was a rough, narrow goat path by comparison. Views are similar. Pikes Peak cost a lot more. It cost $15 apiece to go up Pikes Peak. We all 3 went up Mt Evans on my senior pass for nothing. Mt Evans was more desolate on top.

What's the fourth bike?

Twas a Harley Cormanus. We had him surrounded. We parked in front of a " bike bar" called the Buffalo Rose, and walked across the street to a really nice restaurant the Old Capital Grill.

Today was a short day, and what we referred to as a "canyon day". No continental divide passes today just up and down various canyons. We rode Clearcreek Canyon, Mt Vernon Canyon, Cole Creek Canyon, Golden Gate Canyon, and Bear Creek Canyon. We did ride up Lookout Mountain, rode a new section of the Peak to Peak Hwy, visited rhe Thunder Valley MX Track ( boy that brought back memories) and toured the Red Rock Amphitheater (you should google that Cormanus..it was really cool. I saw Joe Bonomassa play there on PBS TV.) Oh and we had lunch in Golden as seen above. Anyhow about 8 hours out today buy only 141 miles ridden.

So the 5 days we have ridden with LR we rode 1243 miles. Offroad and I did another 164 riding up to Nebraska and back on the way down here for 1407 miles and I rode 254 getting to Offroads making it 1661 and then I have to get home from Offroads once we get back so another 254 there for a grand total of 1915 miles for the 9 days. OH and about 2200 in the car coming and going lol, making total miles for the trip in the neighborhood of 4000 miles. Was it worth it? Every mile brother, every mile. What a great trip!

Awesome riding, guys. No hits, no runs, no errors. Well, one error, but we'll keep it among friends. I hope you find a way to make it back out here someday soon -- I've got more great roads to show you!
