Is there something that happens around the 4,000 mark that I should know about? As I look at used (Pre owned) CB1100's I notice 13's & 14's for sale w/ 4,000mi on them. Any particular reason?

None. Just an oil and filter change as the service guide suggests, I think?
There are no issues with milage as far as we know with the CB1100. Great used buy.
Yea guys buy em, ride them very little (average rider in US rides less than 3000 miles per year according to statistics) and then they move on to another bike and then repeat the process. No issues with the bikes, we have several forum members with between 50,000 and 100,000 miles on them. I'm catching up to them with 43,000 miles on mine currently. Will be over 50,000 by end of year.
4000 miles is when the original tires need to be replaced. It's a good time to dump the bike and cut your losses.
Same thing happens with Ducati's. You can buy them for a song with only 8000 miles. That's when the valve clearances need to be inspected.
4000 miles is like the seven year itch.

My front tire was shot at 4k miles. Replaced with new. Rear still in good shape. I plan to ride this bike until l am no longer able to ride. It's the perfect bike for me. This model is typical Honda with high quality fit and finish, and rock solid reliability. No worries.
I only know one guy that sold his. He cusses every time I remind him.
got 18,000 on my 14, and that's only because I bought a Harley and have put 10,000 on it.
I would not sell mine unless someone paid me enough that I could go out and buy two more.
Sometimes bikes are like ol' girlfriends (or boyfriends, if preferred), ... they come and go. The CB in many respects is your [happy] spouse.

I can concur with the U.S. average. Sometimes it is double, sometimes half. There are so many impediments besides time and weather. Probably my personal beef is profuse humidity.
