Come to think of it, I don't recall the brakes being constantly applied, but possibly the gearbox was put into first gear? Even that sounds rough.

Recently, riding buddy Tom and I took my R100GS via U Haul rental trailer to the independent technician's shop for work. Only 50 miles or so from home, but thought the bike might be harmed riding it with what appeared to be either a blown tranny or final drive seal.

Of course, the tow vehicle will need a hitch (goes without saying) and you'll need four ratcheting tie downs.

It's easy to load with two of us, both pushing, one steering.

What are you disagreeing with m in sc? ohiorider’s decision not to ride his bike to the mechanic? Or his diagnosis?

I think he is disagreeing with DBM (post 21) about hydraulics.

Thanks Em-in-SC for the tips. I always wondered about locking in gear while transporting. Can help thinkin' there is a "hacksaw inside" killing the gears one bounce at a time.

Hydraulic brakes: If they fail during transport, then what good would they have been while in normal use?

might be a tight fit for 2 not even tried the one yet but i had mine custom made for tie down hooks on floor and side bars for straps

Thanks for the response Doug. The starting price sounds about market for the 5x8. Yeah, two full-size street bikes like the CB could be tricky - at least not instant convenient to juggle in and out daily. 6x10 (?) size would be more a fit, but of course, more $$.

5’ wide will not fit 2 bikes side by side, should have at least 7’ inside measurement. My Wells Cargo was 6’4” by 16’ long in order to put 2 touring bikes in they had to be staggered . This method did work , a 5’ wide may work if 2 cbs are used but doubtful.

I reckon for transport the 5' wide is unsuitable for two bikes.

What about for idle (non-moving) storage?
