Riding buddy Nemo and I made this ride couple months back. We started at the north end of the Dame Point Bridge in Jacksonville. A memorial park is there to pay tribute to El Faro, a ship that was lost at sea after leaving the port here. All hands perished.

From this point we headed east and then north on SR 105 and A1A to the Kingsley Plantation on Ft. George Island. Built around 1797, it was owned by Zephania Kingsley and now part of the Timucuan Historical and Ecological Preserve. The last 2.5 miles to the site is graded dirt and limestone road with excellent views of salt marshes so prevalent in this area. The road is like a tunnel cut through the semi-tropical vegetation. Deer, otters, raccoons and armadillos are common sights.

After leaving the Kingsley Plantation we were back north on A1A to Fernandina and a visit to Ft. Clinch, an important Civil War site. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Clinch

From Fernandina we were off to Jewel's BBQ in Yulee where we met up with Nemo's son Francisco who had ridden down from Virginia that morning. Was a pleasure to see Fran again and enjoy the fantastic BBQ at Jewel's.
