Thanks for the pics and the remembrances of the 1980 eruption. I was a junior in high school at the time...the whole event was a huge news story.

Nice ride! I remember the Mt. St. Helens eruption. Our geology teacher rolled a TV into the classroom and we watched it. I also remember a car polish commercial that aired after the eruption... Blue Coral or TR3 brand I think. "Joe Schmuckleford waxed his truck right before the eruption. Even after being buried under a ton of ash, the water still beads!"

While I can't remember the brand of polish, I distinctly remember the image of a Blue Ford truck, covered in ash, being rinsed off in the commercial.

Wow, good eye! Indeed it is a JR hemp jacket. So when I get stressed out by people while riding, I just breathe deeply. The jacket was free! I ordered a certain amount from one of the online stores and they had a special where you spend X amount, free jacket.

Haha...I never would have remembered that commercial unless you brought up the specifics.
Cool! I remember receiving my jacket, and noticing a disclaimer that warned you not to try to smoke it.
