The CB1100 Community Forum

Although my CB1100 just stepped over 16000km (10k miles) it wasn't the real occasion. I just wanted to go for a ride. A few good riding buddies decided to tag along.
Morning weather wasn't promising, but in an amazing turn of events the humidity stayed high up in the sky and gave us great riding weather, temperature in mid-high 30s (°C)
Considering the fact that it wasn't humid we used the opportunity to ride the eastern costal road, and to visit a few nice places.
There is a small town in the northeast called Khorfakkan, used to be a Portuguese port in the colonial times, and then for a long time it was just a neglected little hard to reach cove cut off from the rest of the country.
In 2018 the ruler of Emirate of Sharjah decided to cut through the mountains and make a highway (85mph speed limit) to reconnect Khorfakkan with the rest of the country, giving us motorcyclists and amazing twisty road full of uphills and downhills, tunnels and hairpins. Shortly after that they started heavily investing in content that would attract tourists. So apart from the beach getting a full overhaul, they decided to restore much of Portuguese heritage, including the port, old fort, bunch of watch towers on the hill tops, and the last bit that we just discovered today for the first time, is what seems to be a old mountain village you can see on one of the pictures.
It is indeed a gem of the northeast coast. It's never boring to ride over there, especially not on a CB1100 with a bunch of good people

I think so, too GO. I know how much I enjoy seeing every little place in the world through the magic of the interwebs, so no reason to think someone else wouldn't enjoy seeing like-minded people's adventures

Awesome, Tod! Truly, it is a treat to see the CB1100 in so many different environs. Said it before, but your blue looks sublime. The red, the yellow...they scream out "look at me!" but the blue whispers the same.

Nice pics Tod and it looks like a fun ride! That doesn't look like a very humid area to begin with though, does it get bad?

Agree entirely, well put GO. So different than where I normally ride.

Looks like a neat little ride tod. You seem to have a good group to ride with. The CB looks great.

It gets really bad. Humidity reaches as much as 92%, but normally sits between high 60s-mid80s. If you've ever been to Turkish hammam/steam bath/wet sauna/bathroom after a really long hot shower/rainforest - then you'd have an idea. It's really hard to breathe, and impossible to cool down.
As I said, looks like the summer is coming to an end, there are reasons to be excited!

(yuck) We get our share in North America, including today in southern Ontario. Today will reach 40C with humidex. This is one contest a rider does not want to be proud about.
