Okay, just got back from a morning breakfast ride--and my butt is planted inside for the rest of the day as it's already 99f @ 10:00 am--on its way to a high of 108f!!
I like the seat. I'm 5'9" 195, and gifted with the healthy knees of a 90 yr-old (read: my knees suck). Anything I can do to relieve the bend in my knees makes my day much more enjoyable. Yeah, my knees hate when I'm teaching all day on the CBR1000RR--but hey, that's why I keep my Motrin in a Pez dispenser, and eat 'em like candy!!
The seat feels maybe 1/2" or so taller than the stock seat, but more importantly, because it's much flatter, I can move around on the seat quite a bit more, without feeling like I'm sitting on the step between the pilot & passenger section (which I would sometimes do on the OEM seat). The Cozy Seat doesn't have a radically different feel, meaning I don't feel like I'm sitting on top of the bike--it still feels similar to the rider triangle produced by the OEM. It's a shiny vinyl--it looks like I just cleaned it with Armor-all. Not bad, just different from the duller finish of the stock seat (which I like better).
The bottom of the seat is very well made, molded heavy-duty plastic, and it fits just like the OEM. There are four rubber bumpers that I had to remove from the bottom of the OEM, to transfer to the bottom of the Cozy Seat (the two rectangular ones at the front, and two small round ones at the middle. There is not a document holder molded into the plastic, but the stowage bin above the battery is sufficiently large for that.
I've seen pictures of the Cozy Seat with and w/o the grab bar, and I bought it just to complete the vintage look I was seeking. I like the height of the bar in relation to the rear of the Cozy Seat--and I think the two together really complete the 80's look. In my opinion, the bar doesn't look good with the OEM seat, as it sits about an inch or more taller than the rear of that seat. The bar is very sturdy, and installs in minutes, by unscrewing the four 6mm bungee bolts, and mounting the grab bar between the OEM brushed aluminum rails and the black frame rails.
