Great idea, although the increasing ability of technology to monitor more and more aspects of our lives is pretty scary.

I am all for this , on the BRP it is sometimes unbelievable to hear these loud pipes and spoil the beautiful mountains.

Many large semi tractors (eighteen wheelers) seem to produce a higher noise level at highway speed than many "noisy" bikes. Farm tractors around here are noisy as well. Many cities and towns have prohibited the use of exhaust brakes on trucks but as of yet no restriction on loud pipes.

I am not an advocate of unmuffled exhausts on bikes. My CB has retained it's stock exhaust as has my HD Ultra Limited and they have nice exhaust sound as is.

Thankfully, not an issue for Forum members and their wonderful CBs with the stock exhaust system.

Optimistic, GO. Over the years any number of forum members have complained about the 'quietness' of their pipes.

It was an Alice In Wonderland moment.

Hopefully this works and the US adoptes similar measures in the future. Everyday I am aggravated and disturbed by millennials on sport bikes and/or baby boomers on V twins with uncapped open exhausts that rev the sh#t out of their engines with no regard for any of the people around them.

Just yesterday a group of us had ridden down the coast for a coffee at one of our favourite donut shops.
When we arrived there were several of the "straight pipes" types already there; you know who I mean without mentioning a brand name.
They left shortly after with constant cranking of the throttle and then blasted away down the road winding the V-twin engines up tight. I don't know who they thought they were impressing, but it wasn't anyone within hearing range.

truly, it's the most common complaint of all CB1100 owners. "oh, it sounds like a sewing machine."

meh. i could have it either way. my pipes got loud as a side effect of performance mods and stripping weight. while the volume is certainly assertive, it's still under 100db according to the specs of the parts. there are still those tho would go and put a TBR cone or something like that on the end and put the volume through the roof.

anyway, i didn't necessarily set out to get noise, but i accept it as a side effect of the changes I made. if i wanted it to be quieter i'd have to sacrifice weight or power or both.
