This is the method i used to cut down my EX shield,

This will give you 10 1/4" from the top of the key and what i found to be the best for wind protection and no buffeting;

Using masking tape mask both sides of the shield approximately 8 1/2 inches from the indent on both sides of the shield. (see pic's) Measure 8 1/2 from both sides mark the front side of the shield. Using poster paper draw a line across the shield onto the masking tape. Use a fine metal jigsaw blade and make your cut. Using a palm sander with med. paper sand until there are no rough edges or depressions in the plastic. Than use fine paper leaving the masking tape on. Bevel the edge until there is no more rough edges on the sides. Take off the tape and install.
