Shdwghst, my main aim was noise reduction or I would have gone with something like the Scala. I'd be wearing earplugs, so I'd practiced getting a helmet over them. The Bose NIC in ear phones seem to stay in more easily as I pull the helmet over them. And yes it's a full face helmet.

Right on. The Bose undoubtedly has a better sound quality to it, too. Are you at all concerned about not hearing something, for example a situation that could be avoided by hearing and reacting?

Yes, a little bit, but I'm also concerned about further damaging my hearing from excessive wind noise. I also don't think I'd listen to music at all in city riding and enough noise seems to get through in that circumstance.
It's all endless bloody compromise. But at least it sounds better these days.
