Although I adore the appearance and sound of my Pipemasters four into fours, losing the centre stand sure did hurt.
I recently purchased a Tommy Jack as a cheap and portable solution of getting that rear wheel of the ground for oiling the chain etc. At first I was worried that it wouldn't fit between the swing arm and exhaust but it does no worries.
As you can tell from the picture it only just gets the rear off the ground so it wouldn't be an effective replacement for a paddock stand for serious work but I would strongly recommend one for anyone with an exhaust that had to delete the centre stand.

Looking good, Tim. I'd have thought using the tie down point near the rear peg was a bit risky. If the shocks compress, doesn't the bungy loosen? Wouldn't want to lose such a precious cargo.

That's a good point, can't say I ever though of it. I've done this more times than I care to mention and haven't had any trouble, it's only ever short trips from the bottle shop to my place. As you can see it's strapped down pretty tight so we'd be talking about a huge bump to dislodge it.
It always brings me pleasure seeing the look of joy upon the face of the motoring public when they see my pull up with a carton of beer strapped down on the pillion seat.
Yeah, I can imagine. The improvisational brilliance of the motorcyclist!

No, it doesn't move. The rear peg attaches to the long silver bracket that attaches to the frame, not the swingarm. The seat, frame, pegs (front and back), etc. all remain in relation to each other. Only the wheel and swingarm move.

Now, if you attached the tie down to the swingarm instead, there would be beer all over the road!
